Laab Gai is a magical dish that tickles your taste buds with its unique blend of spicy, sour, and savory flavors. It's like a wild dance party in your mouth, with minced chicken, fresh herbs, and zesty lime juice all jiving together in perfect harmony.
Equipment
- medium pot
Ingredients
- 170 g ground chicken
- 1 teaspoon water
- 14 g Thai cilantro or leaf cilantro (finely chopped)
- Thai chili powder (as much as you like, you can also leave this out if you’re not a fan of spicy flavors)
- 5 g mint leaf (finely chopped)
- 18 g shallot (thinly slice)
- 2 Thai bird’s eye chilis (finely chopped, optional)
- 2 teaspoons fish sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon toasted rice powder
- 2 teaspoons lime juice
- lettuce, green long bean, cucumber (served with dish, optional)
- sticky rice (served with dish, optional)
Preparation
- In a medium pot on medium high heat, add in ground chicken and water. Stir until chicken is fully cooked, then remove from heat.
- Add in fish sauce, granulated sugar, toasted rice powder, thai chili powder and lime juice. Stir until well-combined.
- Add in chopped thai cilantro, chopped mint leaf, thinly slice shallot, and chopped Thai bird’s eye chilis. Stir until well-combined.
- Serve with steamed sticky rice, pair with vegetables of your choice (I love serving this dish with lettuce leaves, sliced green long bean and cucumber).
